What IS Katmandu, anyway? What does it mean that we are a Unique Recreation Destination and Event Venue? Well, it all started with our pool house and great room…
Our indoor pool house provided the inspiration for the programming we offer; that and the great room (a.k.a. “studio”), which became the perfect space for yoga. The name Katmandu came from the1975 Bob Seger song, “I’m going to Katmandu!” Also, Kathmandu, Nepal is a popular destination for pilgrims, tourists, and hippies, basically; we liked the idea of turning our space into a retreat and enjoyed decorating with a hippie vibe (hence, the 1964 Corvair Greenbrier van that serves as our sign – look for that along Historic National Road/Route 40).
